Denny Sub Station
In order to facilitate the connection of the new Beauly Denny Overhead line to the existing network a new 275/400 kV sub-station was constructed in Dunipace, Denny, Stirlingshire. The sub-station forms a key hub in the existing electrical network.
A sub-station is required on the electrical network to serve two key purposes. They transform electricity to the lower voltages which can supply and local businesses and they can switch electricity flow over different routes to supply different areas of the country or provide backup in the event of a fault. Sub-stations generally consist of a control building and a fenced compound containing electrical apparatus, including transformers, switch gear and terminal towers.
For Risk Reduction purposes an Integrated Security Solution was requested by Scottish Power.
Following their successful bid to tender, working with Scottish Power, Electronic Security Systems and Fire Protection Ltd designed, installed and commissioned a security package comprising:
- IP High Speed Dome Cameras
- Intelligent Perimeter Security
- LED Lighting
- Real Time Digital Video Recorders
- Video Transmission System
- Integrated Intruder Detection System
- Local Area Network
- Camera Towers
- Integrated Video Intercom System
- Public address System
Over the period of the build of the Sub-station, 2012-2016 Electronic Security Systems and Fire Protection Ltd provided the project management and labour requirements to take this project from the design stage through to the completed package.
