In order to provide electricity throughout Scotland and the North West of England, one of Scotland’s major Utilities Company’s have Local (Primary) Substations throughout cities, towns and some rural areas in the UK. These Primary Substations provide a vital service providing electricity to businesses and homes throughout the UK. Each sub-station contains a minimum of one small to medium sized building containing Internal Electricity Transformers and a Control Room.
These substation buildings contain copper wiring making them a prime target for an opportunist thief who can cause major disruption to electrical supplies and serious risk of injury. ESS & FP Ltd were tasked to provide a cost for the Design, Supply, Installation and Commission of Standard Grade 2 Intruder Alarm Systems to be installed in 44 Primary Substations in North Wales and the North West of England.
Our task was to carry out on-site surveys at each location over a 5 day window, a full system design and quotation package for each site was provided to the client comprising:- building risk assessment, site drawing, design proposal, health and safety risk assessment, system specification and quotation with a provision of a zero hours lead time. Following acceptance of our proposal a three week programme of works provided to our client.
All works were successfully carried out using 3 teams of our own engineers, as the works were being completed our Internal Audit Department followed, visiting approximately 50% of the sites to ensure all works were being carried out in accordance with the current standards and regulations.
On completion site and system documentation including operation and maintenance manuals were compiled and provided and all site details including an annual maintenance plan were added to our CRM database enabling ESS & FP Ltd to provide our reliable service package to the client.
